DOL: LABOR CERT BACKLOG ENDED

According to a DOL Press Release on EarthTimes.org, the US DOL eliminated the foreign labor certification backlog.  The agency predicted that this would be accomplished by the end of September…quite impressive!

IMMIGRATION AT 25 MPH

US companies that are unable to fulfill their labor needs with US workers and are unable to hire foreign-born workers due to highly restrictive immigration laws are outsourcing work to foreign countries. Programming and call center positions are frequently shipped abroad. An article on allheadlinenews.com states that in order to better serve Spanish-speaking US customers, the number of call-center jobs in Latin America is rapidly growing.

Congress should work towards fixing this broken system so that we can stop repeatedly shooting ourselves in the foot with antiquated immigration laws that no longer work for anyone. If our highways had speed limits of 25 miles per hour, 99% of us would probably be “illegal drivers”. Laws need to make sense. Sensible laws should be the first step towards solving the immigration crisis.
