IMMIGRATION AT 25 MPH

Posted By Bradley Maged On October 1, 2007 @ 7:18 am In Uncategorized | No Comments

US companies that are unable to fulfill their labor needs with US workers and are unable to hire foreign-born workers due to highly restrictive immigration laws are outsourcing work to foreign countries. Programming and call center positions are frequently shipped abroad. An article on [1] allheadlinenews.com states that in order to better serve Spanish-speaking US customers, the number of call-center jobs in Latin America is rapidly growing.

Congress should work towards fixing this broken system so that we can stop repeatedly shooting ourselves in the foot with antiquated immigration laws that no longer work for anyone. If our highways had speed limits of 25 miles per hour, 99% of us would probably be “illegal drivers”. Laws need to make sense. Sensible laws should be the first step towards solving the immigration crisis.
