According to an article on [1] nytimes.com:  “Under pressure from the toughest crackdown on illegal immigration in two decades, employers across the country are fighting back in state legislatures, the federal courts and city halls.”

I predict that in 2009 (maybe early 2010) there will be a positive change in immigration policy.  There will be a new President, new Congress and less political pressure.  Common sense practicality will override raw emotion and immigration laws that make sense will be enacted.  My record on predictions is about 50/50, so we’ll have to wait and see.
