DIVERSITY VISA (DV) LOTTERY PROGRAM FOR 2013

According to the Department of State:  “The online registration period for the 2013 Diversity Visa Program (DV-2013) will begin on Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at noon, Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) (GMT-4), and conclude on Saturday, November 5, 2011, at noon, Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) (GMT-4).

H-1B CAP COUNT (9/9/11)

According to the USCIS, as of September 9, 2011, the agency had received 32,200 out of 65,000 available cap-subject H-1B petitions for FY-2012 and 16,700 out of 20,000 available petitions under the H-1B Master’s Cap Exemption.

HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE NATURALIZATION TEST

The Beacon, the official Blog of the USCIS posted an entry entitled “Preparing for the Naturalization Test:  The Citizenship Resource Center.”  It offers useful information on preparing for that all-important test.  Study is required, even many US Citizens would fail the civics portion without proper preparation.

USCIS PUBLISHES CNMI TRANSITIONAL WORKER FINAL RULE

According to a USCIS News Release:  “U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) published a final rule in today’s Federal Register that establishes a Transitional Worker (CW) classification for workers in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI). The CW classification allows employers in the CNMI to hire nonimmigrant workers who are otherwise ineligible to work.”
