FY-2012 H-1B CAP COUNT (4/8/2011)

The time has come again where U.S. companies are eligible to file H-1B cap-subject petitions for foreign-nationals to begin working on or after October 1, 2011, the beginning of the USCIS 2012 fiscal year.

According to the USCIS, as of April 7, 2011, the agency has received 5,900 out of 65,000 available cap-subject H-1B petitions for FY-2012 and 4,500 out of 20,000 available petitions under the H-1B Master’s Cap Exemption.

These figures represent a decrease as compared to last year.  My guess is that employer’s did not feel under the gun to file on April 1st as it was several months before the FY-2011 H-1B cap was exhausted.
